Interviews with Marines in Afghanistan--"The Moral Descent"
What it Feels Like to Be in a Firefight--Interview with a Colonel
"You're Not Supposed to Swear in Boot Camp." This interview is interesting but has the "F" word in it and we're not supposed to swear in school ;^) so I'd better not post it. He makes the point that the leadership in the Marines doesn't want their initiates to swear but it does want them to learn to go kill people. Can you say, "ironic"?

To be used later:

O'Brian reads "How to Tell a True War Story" about his chilling experience of killing a man
"Literature makes you feel a little less alone in the world"

Interview of Tim O'Brian --“Through a story, you hope that you can somehow makes someone lying in bed at 2 in the morning reading your book feel a little bit of what you felt 40 years ago”

What We Still Don't Get About Vietnam--Tim O'Brian  "For What?"  Why did we fight?

Moon Day, October 2

Cool little tidbit that could be used for extra credit sometime :)
The days of the week are named after the seven planets that can be seen with the naked eye.
Actually, with the exception of Monday (moon day) and Sunday, they're named after mythological gods and goddesses that are associated with those planets
English          Planet    Norse God    Spanish     Roman God
Monday         Moon
Tuesday        Mars
Wednesday   Mercury    Woden       Miercoles   Mercury
Thursday       Jupiter
Friday            Venus
Saturday        Saturn
Sunday          Sun

Where we get the names for the days of the week: Days of the Week
